Working with these Tribal theme ceramic charms has been a very interesting exercise in design for me. I tried several ways to complement the rustic beauty of these masks. After much back and forth with various textures and forms, I arrived at the conclusion that anything I was doing by way of "embellishment" was actually taking away from their beauty. For weeks, these masks stared at me from my beading table, wearing the various "getups" I tried on them. Nothing felt right.
Hence, as is said in the artistic world about good design being knowing when to walk away from "designing", I decided to simply attach earring hooks and have the wearer celebrate the simplicity and inherent beauty of these masks.
These ceramic charms were made in Lithuania by the wonderful ceramic artist Lina Macijauskiene.

A face mask chain that doubles as a necklace when mask is not in use. A lovely mandala pendant on this hand-knotted beaded string makes a lovely necklace on it's own. A row of reddish crystal beads on either side of the chains (close to the pendant and near the clasp end that runs along the face and connects to the mask/spectacle when wearing them) adds a nice touch of sparkle.
